Horicon Marsh

I took a half-day trip to this NWR and was not at all disappointed! I spent most of my time off the auto loop and associated trails. The only thing that kept me walking more trails was the density of people, especially those with noisy kids and dogs. I walked the redhead trail to the boardwalk, and meandered the road back. At the boardwalk marsh, I (or someone else) kept flushing a yellow-headed blackbird. I wished it would sit still for a good look, but the best I ever saw it was a flash of yellow, black and white as it darted past. I heard sora in the marsh, and watched an osprey perusing the waters. Pretty day on a beautiful wetland!
